Selecting a New Tree

One of the best local resources for selecting a tree for planting is Truckee Meadows Water Authority’s online Landscape Guide for the Truckee Meadows.

Utah State University Cooperative Extension has an online Utah Tree Browser is an interactive search tool with information on more than 200 native and introduced species growing in the Intermountain West. The site includes color photographs and a fact sheet for each species that describes leaves, twigs, flowers/fruit, bark, wood, and other comments including hardiness zone designations.

First off, select the right tree for the right place. Next, visit a nursery and select a healthy tree. And finally, you are ready to plant!
