Mission, Purpose, Goals

Our Mission is to enhance the protection and preservation of the public and private community forest through:

Education (information and instruction)
- Foster a broad sense community responsibility for and ownership of the community forest
- Increase awareness of the value and benefits of trees
- Promote programs that recognize the benefits of privately-owned trees
- Invest in effective outreach focused on public education of tree care and tree irrigation practices
- Provide tree care training opportunities (workshops, seminars, etc.)

Research
- Continue to invest in, expand, and integrate existing public tree inventories
- Develop a community forest management plan for the region
- Monitor research related to the role of trees in climate change

Conservation (water and energy)
- Highlight the role of trees in water and energy conservation
- Promote climate-appropriate trees and landscapes
- Demonstrate Best Landscape Practices through community projects

Collaborative Policy Development
- Provide a forum for the exchange of technical information
- Facilitate the development of cooperative community forestry programs
- Identify opportunities for shared funding sources, resources, materials, and personnel
- Develop a regional tree ordinance that includes, at a minimum, watering requirements
Goals of the Forestry Coalition
- Public education and awareness of the value and benefits of our community forest
